SUBJUGATION OF ABYSSINIA SOLDIERS LANDED BY PLANES Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright ADDIS ABABA, October 19. As a reprisal for shooting down three Italian military planes in July, when all the occupants were killed, 33 planes carrying 500 soldiers left Addis Ababa to-day and bombed the village of Lekenvtl. They then landed and a fierce battle followed, the result of which is not known. WAR CONSIDERED OVER ROME, October 20. It lias been reported that the Government does not intend to give any information about the Italo-Abyssinian war in future. The war is considered over, and incidents from now on will be classified as police action. COMPLETE VICTORY ABYSSINIAN'S ROUTED AFTER FIERCE BATTLE. ROME, October 20. (Received October 21, at 11.30 a.m.) Hundreds of Abyssinians are reported to have been killed in the most serious battle since the occupation of Addis Ababa. The Italians claim a complete victory, giving access to the fertile western province of Sidamo. Troops and artillery from Addis Ababa encountered the Abyssinians near Giavassere. _ After a heavy bombardment the Italians, aided by planes, charged the Abyssinians, who were routed after six hours’ fighting.
