TESTIMONIAL TO MISS BATTEN
FUND DPENED IN AUCKLAND [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, October 21. The Mayor of Auckland announced to-day that a fund is being opened to enable the citizens of Auckland to express in a practical way their appreciation of Miss Jean Batten’s magnificent flight. Mr Davis said that large numbers of citizens had shown their interest by tumultuously cheering Miss Batten, and he hoped they would avail themselves of the opportunity to provide a worthy testimonial. Miss Batten is motoring to Hamilton this afternoon to commence her southern tour.
