LABOUR DAY RELIABILITY TRIAL
Tho Labour Day reliability trial from Dunedin to Queenstown and back, conducted by tho Automobile Association (Otago), and which is open only to members of tho association or of a club affiliated to the South Island (N.Z.) Motor Union, will bo commenced on October 24. The first competitor will bo started from the club rooms at 1.130 p.m., tho others following at intervals of one minute. Tho Lindis Cup and a trophy will be awarded the winner in the motor car section, and tho Tax-ras Cup and trophy will bo the second award. There will also be a trophy for third. The motor cycle awards will include the Victory Cup and trophy for first, tho Wanaka Cup and trophy for second, and a trophy for third. For each competitor completing the course within one hour of his or her correct time a certificate of performance will bo awarded. There will bo several tests for each competitor, and a stop and restart test will be held on a hill. Several observed sections will be held in order to test tho general driving ability of the competitors, and will cover starting car, stopping car, parking car, gear changing, and general handling of car. Official checks will be held at towns en route, and the speed allowed between Dunedin and the boundary will be 20 miles per hour. Between Dunedin and Clyde the speed will bo 30 miles per hour, and from Clyde to Queenstown 25 miles per hour. Entry forms are obtainable from tho secretary Automobile Association (Otago).
