TASMAN AIR SERVICE
EARLY START HINTED (Ti:r United Pnuss Association.] NEW PLYMOUTH, October 5. That a Tasman air service would he inaugurated in the very near future was indicated by Captain E. G. Johnston to an official gathering at the New Plymouth airport J o-day. Captain Johnston,' who is Commonwealth Controller of Civil Aviation, has been engaged in the air conference at Wellington, and is visiting Now Plymouth to inspect the airport. He said that the conference’s report would be submitted to the Governments, and he was not at liberty to disclose its terms, but his hearers could rest assured that a .service would be started in the very near future. It was already overdue. There were many difficulties, ho said, but they were not beyond the capabilities of Australian and New Zealand aviators, given a proper ground organisation
“ I am convinced that the service will ho a success financially,” said Captain Johnston. “ The two countries have a great deal in common. The citizens of both would find the service a safe ami speedy means of travel, and 1 predict there wil,l be a heavy demand for seals,”
