ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
MOTOR TRAGEDY AT BRIDGE. A fatal accident occurred yesterday afternoon at Howey’s bridge, 16 mile* from Taumarunui. A Maori, W. Haupapa, who was driving a lorry laden with one bush log, had a passenger with him named David Crosby. When the lorry was crossing Howey’s bridge the structure collapsed, and the lorry was precipitated into the creek. Crosby was killed outright, and Haupapa’s shoulders were badly crushed. He was admitted to the Taumarunui Hospital. SPINAL INJURY. A badly injured spine was suffered by Charles Lovelock, aged 55, who resides at 15 Phillip street, when ho slipped and fell while walking down a gangway. He was later admitted to the Hospital. . CYCLIST INJURED. While cycling down Stafford street yesterday morning Cyril Beecroft fell off his machine, and was later admitted to the Hospital suffering from head injuries.
