Mr J. R. Wilson (Tawanui) travelled to Wellington by the second express today. Lieutenant A. W. E. Webb, who until recently occupied the position of conductor of the St. Kilda Band, has been appointed to a similar position with the Artillery Band (Southern Command)* owing to the resignation of Quarter* master-sergeant W. J. Nelson. Tho appointment of Sir Cecil Day to a post in the office of the High Commissioner for New Zealand in London is announced in the | Gazette.’ Other appointments made in the office are those of Miss D. M. Dudley and Mr S,S. D. Ross. . . A London Press Association cablegram states that the late Sir Frederick Macmillan, the publisher, left an estate valued at £202,224. A Press Association cable message from London states that Rear-Admiral Wilbraham Ford hag been appointed admiral superintendent at Malta. •
