UNIVERSITY CHOIR

The Otago University Choir and Orchestra, under the direction of Mr L. S. Adam, entertained the patients at the Seacliff Mental Hospital last evening. The choir items included the choruses ‘ Hoses White and Roses Red,’ ‘Queen Elizabeth,’ ‘Drake’s Drum,’ and ‘ Robin Hood's Wedding.’ and the part songs (a) ‘Moonlight’; (b) ‘ Cherry Ripe.’ The orchestral numbers were ‘ Henry VIII. Dances,' ‘ Sea Pictures,’ and a fantasia of students’ songs. Other items were vocal solos by Miss F. Holmes and _Mr E. H. Sealey, a quintet, ‘ Love is Meant to Make Us Glad ’; quartet, ‘ln England, Merrio England ’: violin solo, Miss J. Holmes; piano solo, Mr E. H. Sealey: a variety turn by Messrs Shearer and Andrew; and an interlude ? ‘ Ginger Jar.’ At the conclusion of the concert Dr Hayes, the medical superintendent, thanked Mr Adam _ and- the performers, and also the Patients and Prisoners’ Aid Society, under whose auspices the entertainment was given.
