RETURN OF COLONIES
RENEWAL OF GERMANY'S DEMAND PLEA TO FORGET THE PAST Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright BERLIN, June 29. A renewal of Germany’s demand fertile return of colonies and the retraction of the “ war guilt lie ” coincided with the double anniversary of the signing of the Versailles Treaty and the assassination at Sarajevo. The ‘ Kolnischo Volks Zeitung ” says: “ Only a few days before the anniversaries the Central Council of the Conservative Party in Britain voted against a discussion for the redistribution of colonial mandates in Africa, although half the white farmers in Tanganyika declare themselves for the restitution of the territory to Germany. No better proof of our ability to administer colonies could be given.” Dr Goebbels declared: “The war guilt lie and the colonial lie are obstacles hindering the progress of the world. Cannot Britain, France, and Italy recognise the fault of the past ? They wait until Germany takes the initiative and then feign deafness or are obstinate.”
