FORBIDDEN NEAR AERODROMES
KITE FLYING DANGEROUS [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, June 16. A warning against the dying of kite* in the vicinity of aerodromes was issued yesterday by the Minister of Defence "(Hon. F. Jones). He explained that the practice was prevalent, and that it' was looked on by the aviation authori. ties as very dangerous, especially to pupils who were taking initial course* in flying. It was mentioned by the Minister that the practice of flying kites had been mosl marked at the Rongotai Aerodrome, Wellington, and that the chief instructor of the Wellington Aero Club had drawn his attention to the danger. “ The practice of flying kites.” Mr Jones said, “ constitutes a real danger to airmen, and particularly to machines which in many instances are being flown frequently by club pupils.” The Minister pointed out that under the air navigation regulations of 183.‘5 it was provided that “ no fixed balloon, kite, or moored airship shall be elevated in the vicinity of any aerodrome without the special authorisation of the Minister.”
