COMMUNITY SING

RETURNED SOLDIERS' FUNCTION The second of tho scries of fortnightly community sings arranged by tho Dunedin Returned Soldiers’ Association was held in the Town Hall Concert Chamber last night. There was u good attendance. .Mr Arthur Macdonald was again tho leader, and any sing is assured of success under his very capable supervision. Thirty-four songs and items in all were presented. Messrs Wiseman and M'Quarrie were featured in a duct, ‘ Lady, Will X Oll Walk?’ the lirsb of four items given between songs, and as_ Mr Wiseman was taking tho feminine role in a dashing manner they had a good reception. After a selection of old-time songs which went with <i swing, Mr George Butler obliged with -(wo solos, ‘ Rose of Tralee ’ and the ‘ Last Round-up.’ The comedian, Mr R. Wilson Brown, was funnier than ever, his witty repartee being warmly greeted. Similarly his rendition of the humorous song, ‘ He’s Dead But He Won’t Lie Down,’ caused much amusement. As a finale to a happy night Mr Wiseman was prominent in a presentation item. An interesting innovation was a special patriotic song written by Mrs C. Black in honour of tho now King, and sung to the tune 1 Will Yc No Come Back Again.’ The accompanists were Mrs Arthur Macdonald and Mr William Le Gal, who gave excellent service on piano and violin.
