POSITION IN PALESTINE NEW REGULATIONS AUTHORISED Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright JERUSALEM, June 13. Sir Arthur Wauchope, the High Commissioner, has authorised regulations providing for the death penalty and imprisonment for life for terrorism, including firing at troops and bombthrowing with intent to cause death, injury, or damage to property, or interference with the railways, roads, telephones, and other communications. The regulations also empower collective fines and confiscation of property where persons have instigated such offences or have not assisted the authorities in discovering the offenders. During a disturbance near the Church of the Nativity at Bethlehem a native constable fired, killing an Arab. JEWISH SETTLEMENTS ATTACKED JERUSALEM, June 14. The police have offered a total of £14,000 as rewards for information leading to the arrest of tire murderers of 23 Jews, three Arabs, Police Constable Bird, and an Austrian, who have been killed since the outbreak of the disturbances, the reward in each case being £SOO. Several districts are having disturbed nights, rifles and machine guns being in action in the eastern Esdraelon for the third night in succession. When marauders attacked several Jewish settlements troops replied, military aeroplanes flying over and illuminating the district. The Arabs retreated, carrying off their casualties. Twenty Arabs at Nablus ambushed a patrol of Seaforth Highlanders, and captured a wounded man. ARAB COMMITTEE GOING TO LONDON LONDON, June 13. The Jerusalem correspondent of ‘ The Times ’ says a deputation of the Higher Arab Committee is going to London immediately with the intention of explaining the grounds for the present Arab unrest to the British Government. HOSTILITIES CONTINUE JERUSALEM, June 14. (Received Juno 15, at \lO a.m.) Despite the presence of eight British battalions and the promulgation of the death penalty, the disturbances continue, including attacks on trains, convoys, and escorts. The Arabs are determined to continue their hostile demonstrations until Jewish immigration is terminated.
