DRUIDISM

Arch Druid Bro. C. Caroliu presided over the regular meeting of the Lily of tho Valley, Lodge, held on Wednesday last. D.P Bro. H. Tyrrell, of No. 1 district, attended in his official capacity. Arch Druid Bro. H. Brockie and officers and members of Ivanhoc Lodge were also welcome visitors. Sick pay amounting to £9 10s was passed for payment. The delegates to the Dispensary Committee tendered their report. Two new candidates were proposed for membership. The district president, assisted by P.D.P. Bro. R. Hughes, installed the following officers into their respective chairs: —J.P.A., Bro. C. Caroliu; Arch Druid, Bro. W. Hoklaway; V.A., Bro. A. Fowler; M.C.. Bro. S. M'Bratuey; treasurer, Bro. N. Ingle; 1.G., Bro. Proedy ; 0. Bro. Connell; A.D. Bards, Bros. T. Moore and H. Winter; V.A. Bards, Bros. T. Maun and G. Hall. The installing officers received a vote of thanks for the capable manner in which tho ceremony was carried out. The cribbage shield was retained by Lily after an enjoyable game. Only a smalt attendance of members were present at Royal Oak on Monday night last to witness the .installation of officers for the_ now term. D.P. Bro. Lcathley was assisted in his duties by P.D.P. Bro. Metcalfe, and they fully merited the vote of thanks and congratulation which was accorded them at the conclusoin of the ceremony. The following officers were installed for the new term:—A.D., Bro. P. J. Heaney; 8.A., Bro. E. J. Quarterraan; treasurer. Bro. A. Mitchell; 1. Bro. H. IT. Hunt; 0.G., Bro. W. H. Steele; A.D. Bards, Bros. J. Johnston and H. Rackley; V.A. Bard, Bro. L. Popham; minute secretary, Bro. W. IT. Hudson; M.C., Bro. A. E. Churchill. One candidate was elected as a benefit member and duly initiated into the mysteries of Druidism.

The Fortnightly meeting of Bay Lodge, No. 18, was held last Monday, Arch Druid Bro. V. W. Couch presiding over a splendid attendance of members. The district president of No. 2 district, Bro. W. G. Lcathlcy, attended officially, and other welcome visitors were P.G.P. Bro. C. Jacobson, P.ELP. Bro. E. J. Bezett, and Past Arch Bro. W. Johnston. The correspondence included invitations to Otago Lodge and the Boy a I Arch Chapter, also an interosting circular letter from the Otago United Friendly Societies’ Council, placing before members three scheduled prices for the conduct of funerals lor the members of friendly societies and their families by five Dunedin undertakers. The Arch Bards reported on the sick members, and £3 13s 4d sick pav was passed for payment. Bro. D. A. v Young gave an interesting address on his visit to Wellington attending the Dominion Council of Friendly societies Bro. Couch was welcomed back to the lodge. Bro. Couch, m replying, thanked the lodge for the good wishes sent to him. He also intimated that m the near future ho would be leaving the district. Very sad and feeling refcrouce was made by several members to the irreparable loss that Past Grand President Bro. A. Watson has sustained by the death of Ins' wife. A

resolution of sympathy was passed anj acknowledged by the members present. D.P. Bro. W. G. Leathley, assisted by P.D.P. Bro. J. A. Metcalfe* installed the officers of the lodge into their re* spective chairs for the ensuing halfyear. The ceremany was carried out with dignity and decorum in a very efficient manner. Bro. L. G. Eagles, having passed through the chairs, was presented with his Past Arch diploma by District President Bro. Leathley, who, in a happy speech, complimented Bro, Eagles on" his very fine service to the lodge. Bros. Hastie, Brown, and Johnson wore elected to the Ball Committee. Tho toasts were replied to by D.P. Bro. Leathley, who invited members to accompany him to Good Intent on, Juno 17, and Past District President Bro. Bczett for Enterprise Lodge.'
