LAUDATORY OBSERVATIONS

TRIBUTES TO DUNEDIN PUBLIC VIEWS OF TITANIA’S PALACE CUSTODIANS Of all the audiences that have viewed Titania’s Palace in its tour . of the Dominion, both Miss Hill and Miss Leslie, the custodians of the exhibit, are unanimously agreed that the Dunedin public has displayed the keenest intelligence and the highest appreciation of its consummate artistry. When voicing that graceful compliment this morning, Miss Leslie added that Auckland was the only city where the people did not fully regard _ the significance attached to this miniature museum. They were only faintly interested, approaching the palace rather as “ just another display ’’ than as a model dowered with unlimited aesthetic possibilities. Another attribute of the 15,000 patrons who have so far visited the exhibit, is their orderliness, both ladies stating that the public was very easy to manage, treating the model with the respect that its priceless nature demanded. Miss Leslie was loud in her praise of the scenic glories of the Dominion, and was specially impressed with tha beauty of Hamner Springs. While the management of the palace has naturally restricted opportunities of seeing the show places of New Zealand, they hope to visit Queenstown en route to Invercargill next week, and also Rotorua when returning to Auckland, from where the palace will be shipped to where it will be exhibited for an extensive season of six months. Indicative of its fame is the fact that . one business firm in England has already arranged -to _ have the • model shown on the premises on its return to the Old Country. The Dunedin season concludes on Tuesday at 5 p.m., consequent on the splendid patronage last night, when the display was extended half an hour beyond the scheduled closing time, it has been decided to stage the final evening session on Monday night till 9 o’clock.
