AIR RACE PRIZES

(Received June 8, at 9 a.m.) , The Schlesinger prize money will be divided as follows: —£4,000 for the fastest speed and the remainder handicap prizes, the winner to receive £3,000, second £1,500, third £I,OOO, and fourth £SOO. [Mr. J. Schlesinger, a South African millionaire, has given a £IO,OOO prize for a London to Johannesburg air race in connection with the Johannesburg Exhibition. The race will be confined to Empire pilots and aircraft, and the organisation is to be under the_ Royal Aero Club Mr Schlesinger said: “ I want to see the people of South Africa airminded. South Africa is now one of the most prosperous menibers of the British Commonwealth. She is unprotected, and is open to any air attack.]
