LAURIER, PORT CHALMERS
What is described as the happiest picture of Shirley Temple’s career. ‘ Curly Top,’ will be shown for a three-night season, commencing this evening, at the Laurier, Port Chalmers. In ‘ Curly Top,’ a charming story of a little girl who captures the heart of a lonely bachelor and makes both their dreams come true, Shirley has two songs to sing and several intricate dance routines for the audience's approval. In this comedy-drama John Boles is cast as a bachelor who adopts Shirley and her big sister, llochelle Hudson. His generosity takes them from the drali and dreary atmosphere of an orphanage to the sunny summer surroundings of a palatial home in Southampton. There the romance of Boles and Bochelle Hudson flourishes under the childish guidance of little Shirley, who sings, dances, and laughs her way into their hen ids.
