OTAGO HUNT CLUB

MEET AT EAST TAIERI The Otago Hunt Club, favoured by ideal weather conditions, held its weekly run on Saturday over the properties of Messrs J. T. TVegilgus, J. Hardy, J. Douglas, and J. Dunery. Followers met at the Mosgiel Railway Station, and the throw-off took place shortly after 3 o'clock in Mr Tregilgus’s property. The lirst obstacle, a post-and-rails, was safely negotiated by all. This was followed by a gorso hedge, then a wire fence, and another gorse hedge brought the followers into. Mr Hardy’s property. The next jump, a hen coop, proved very tricky, and several riders experienced difficulty in getting their mounts past this obstacle. The next jump was a gorse hedge, and from hero on the going was good, and a fast pace was maintained to the road.

' A gorse hedge took the followers into Mr. Dunery’s paddock, and the trail led through Mr Douglas’s property, where good jumping was witnessed. Mr Dunery’s property was again entered, and after three good post-and-rails the trail led to the final jump, a hawthorn hedge at the back of Mr Dunery’s house, where the “ kill ” took place. There wore several difficult jumps throughout the run, and although there were more stops than usual, all those who followed completed the course. The best performances were put up by Mr J. R. Brown’s Dandy, Mr W. Hastie’s Black Tractor, Mr M'Gill’s Peter, Mr W. Wood’s Rainbow, and Mr S. MTvay’s Mikado. The honour of being the first woman rider in again went to Miss M.
