WHY LARGE SALARY RISE PROMISED
WANTED ID PER CENT. DF DUNEDIN COMPANY'S SHARES M'ARTHUR'S EVIDENCE IN ACTION [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, June 2. Decision was reserved by Mr Justice Ostler in the action brought by the Transport Mutual and General Insurance Company Limited (in liquidation) against Cvril Ernie Richard Webber, agent, of Dunedin, for the recovery of amounts totalling £1,891, with interest. Evidence was given this morning by John William Sbaw M'Arthur, company director, that he made arrangements with Webber in 1933 to acquire shares in the Dunedin concern. The object in promising Webber an increase of salary from £4OO to £I,OOO was to induce him to obtain 10 per cent, of the shares of the Dunedin company.
