PRINCESS ASSA’S MARRIAGE

ATHENS, May 28. Princess Assa, in a statement, said: “ Though there is a great difference in our social positions love knows no barriers,. Neither poverty nor force will separate me from my beloved. I have been converted to Christianity and am now dead as far as my family is concerned.”
The Princess exercised her royal prerogative and proposed marriage. The couple are going to England in the course of the honeymoon.
[A sensation was caused by the elopment and secret marriage of Princess Assa, the eldest sister of the King of Iraq, to a hotel porter. Desperate efforts hy the family to annual the marriage were unsuccessful. The Princess is ;!0 years of age. .She arrived at Athens 'a fortnight ago with her sister, Hajiliah. She was secretly baptised according to the rites of the Green Orthodox Church in the name of Anastassia, and then disappeared from the hotel, the porter (Auastassios Charalemhi, aged 25) vanishing simultaneously.)
