On Wednesday next, at the Town Hull Concert Chamber, the Dunedin Strolling Flayers will present their seventh animal production, ‘ Tho Man From Toronto.’ in the past this talented company of amateurs has presented many excellent productions, and no pains have been spared to make this year’s play a worthy successor to ‘Trench Leave,’ ‘The Middle Watch.’ Three Wise Fools,’ etc. A strong cast has been chosen, including Anita Winkel, Elsie M‘Peak, Roa Johnson, Ngata Buswoll, Edna Lungley, Joy Knowles, Reynolds Herbert. Roland Watson, and . R. Brugh, and Douglas Dali is the producer. The story of the play concerns a Canadian who has boon left four million dollars by his uncle, conditional on his marrying a certain Mrs Calthorpe, a young and charming English widow. Mr Priestley, the legal adviser and guardian of Mrs Calthorpe, informs the latter of the position and arranges to take the Canadian to her home. The widow decides to nrotend she is , the parlour maid, and hands the guest on h's arrival a note indicating that Mrs Calthorpe had been suddenly called out of town. Tho Canadian falls in love with the pseudo parlour maid, and from then on the situations become laughable m the extreme. Popular prices are being charged, and tho box plan is now open at the D.I.C. The proceeds are in aid of the silver jubilee appeal of the Dunedin Y.M.C.A.
