Mr J. W. Munro, M.P., was a passenger by the through express north, to-day. Mr D. C. Cameron, cu route to Auckland and Rotorua, went north by the express to-day. Messrs J. M. Fraser, J. H. Grayson, and Arthur Laing left this morning foe Wellington. Our parliamentary reporter telegraphs that Sir Walter Carncross, Speaker of the Legislative Council, who recently underwent treatment at a private hospital, has made a good recovery, and will be able to preside at to-day’s meetings of the Council. Mr J. H. Hinton left by the second express to-day on his way to Wellington.

Dr J. B. Dawson has received advice from London that his son. Dr J, R. Dawson, has passed the primary examination for a fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons. Mr G. D. Anderson, who has resigned from the staff of the Southland Technical College to join tho teaching staff of the Dunedin Technical College, and Mrs Anderson were entertained at morning tea by the staff of the Southland Technical College. Mr C. A.Stewart, principal of the college, expressed regret at the loss of an efficient and congenial colleague of unusual mental gifts, who was a very promising teacher and a good photographer, athlete, and woodwork craftsman. Miss Blackie, senior mistress, for the staff, presented the guests with a hanging lamp shade and a pyrex dish. A man of outstanding personality and ability, the Rev. David Lang, M.A.. D.D., of Canada, arrived in Auckland by the Niagara yesterday. Dr Lang is on a lecture tour of New Zealand and Australia, and arrangements have been completed for him to deliver a series of lectures on Canada in the mam centres of the Dominion. Each lecture will be illustrated, for which purpose Dr Lang is bringing a number of the latest moving pictures and coloured slides.
