TAIERI AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY

MONTHLY MEETING There was a good attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the Taieri Agricultural Society, Mr Jas. Dow (vice-president) presiding. The Secretary of the West Taieri Young Farmers’ Club asked for the use of the Agricultural Hall for a social function, to be held on the evening of May 29, and stated that no admission fee would be charged.—Granted. The Secretary intimated that the lease of the Allanton Reserve would expire on July 31, and as the present tenant was not renewing the lease, he had received two applications for leasing the property.—lt was decided to call tenders for the lease.

The Secretary and Treasurer submitted the balance-sheet to March 31 ; also n statement of receipts and expenditure for the year ended March 31. —Approved, the secretary to have the required number of copies printed and posted to members for the annual meeting- , 'The following nominations for officeeearers were received;—President, Mr Jas. Dow (Lee Creek) ; vice-president. Mr John Murray; committee, all the retiring members—namely, Messrs J. 15. Blair, Jas. Dow, G. Stevenson, J. Matheson, W. J. Reid, G. B. Nichol, W. K. Kirk, J. A. Miller, F Miller, F. M‘Hattie, R. Thomson, J. Murray, and A. S. Gillespie. It was decided to hold the annual meeting on May 2S.
