CONCILIATION COUNCIL

PARTIAL AGREEMENT IN ENGINEERING DISPUTE

When the Conciliation Council ad< journed yesterday a complete settlement of all points in regard to the Dunedin branch of the Amalgamated Engineering and Allied Trades Union of Workers’ dispute had not been made, and a short sitting was held this afternoon, when a partial agreement was reached fixing the rate of wages for journeymen at 2s 3d an hour and for improvers at 2s lid an hour, to operate from June 20 unless the court in the meantime makes an award and fixes an earlier date. Hours of work, holidays, and overtime rates were referred to the court for settlement, and all other conditions were agreed to.
