HEAD MASTER FAREWELLED
At the Mornington School on Friday afternoon, the pupils assembled to bid farewell to their head master, .Mr G. A. Turner and Airs Turner. Master Jack Wetherston paid tribute to Mr Turner's influence and guidance of his youthful charges. One of the pupils. Merle Hill, then presented Mrs Turner with a bouquet. A short programme was presented by the following-Violin solo. Barbara Henderson; duet, Audrey Randle and Edith Wallace; recitations. Doris M'Xab and Molly Kerens; dance, Noeline Reeves: flute duet, Stfnton Thornicroft and Harold Wyatt ; song, Phyllis McDonald; selection by the school fife and drum band. On behalf of the pupils of the school. Shirley Holgatc then presented Mr and Airs G. A. Turner with a beaten brass wood box and fire screen. Following this function, the teaching staff met Mr and Airs Turner at afternoon tea. Mr W. Wallace presided, and expressed the sincere regret of the staff in losing their head master, paying tribute to his many outstanding qualities. Visitors present included Air 6. Swan (bead master of the AVakari School) and Air M‘ Vic (head master of the Portobcllo School), both of whom until recently served on Air Turner’s staff at Morningtnu ; Air E. H. Eager (bandmaster) and Rev. E. V. Fisher (chairman of the School Committee. On behalf of the staff and ex-members, Mr Wallace presented Mr and Airs Turner with an electric reading lamp and an electric jug, with best wishes for a happy retirement.
