, I FALL FROM BRIDGE PRESUMED. A young man, named Harold I l ’. Taylor, aged IS, a mechanic, was found dead at the foot of Grafton Gully, Auckland, on Sunday morning. The wristlet watch which ho was wearing had stopped at 10.35. It is presumed that he fell from the bridge into the deepest part of the gully at that hour on Saturday night. MOTOR COLLISION'. A young man named Kenneth Priest, of Pahiatua, met with a serious accident on the Waikauae Peach road on Saturday afternoon. When riding a motor cycle he collided with a car coming in the opposite direction, and sulfered a broken left arm. concussion, involving a possible fracture of the skull, and shock. He was conveyed to the Palmerston North Hospital, where he now lies in a serious condition. His parents reside at Okain’s Pay. FATAL INJURIES. While crossing Thames street, Oamaru, at the junction of lOxe street, on Saturday night, Mrs A. Wilson, of Torridge street, was knocked down by a car driven by Mr J. J. Thyue, of Morvpii, and received a fracture of the base of the skull and other injuries. Dr Putler assisted the injured woman, who was conveyed to hospital in a critical condition and died this morning. FOOTBALLER INJURED. Murray Swann, aged J 9. residing at Preston "Crescent, was admitted to the hospital at 5 o'clock siitfcring from concussion received while playing for Southern in the second grade Rugby match against Union on the North Ground.
ACCIDENTALLY SHOT. A scrub cutter, known as “ Buster ” Stevenson, aged about 25 years, employed on Mr George Moore’s property, at ' Epairaima, was accidentally shot in the thigh while getting through a fence with a rifle when rabbit shooting on Friday. His cries attracted the attention of some station hands over three hours afterwards, and the victim was immediately conveyed to Masterton Hospital. ’His condition is reported to be grave. CYCLIST STRUCK BY CAR. A Rotorua Association message reads:—Suffering from head injuries and concussion, a labourer. Archibald Graham Kerr (.36) was admitted to Rotorua Hospital on Saturday night as 1 the result of a collision with a motor [ car driven by R. AT. Mooreraft, of | Hamilton. Kerr was cycling on the ; Wairoa road on the outskirts of the town when bo was struck by the car and thrown to the roadway, sustaining a fractured skull. His condition is considered serious. WOMAN’S SUICIDE. The body of Mary Hope Johnson, married, 53 years of’ .vre, was found banging in the washhouse of her home in Eexmont street, Ivaikorai Valley, early this morning. An inquest was held this afternoon before Air H. W. Bundle, S.M. Evidence was heard which showed that the deceased had been suffering from nerve trouble for eight years, and bad been unable to sleep during the past three days. . . A verdict of suicide while in a state of extreme mental depression was rnturned.
