VOLUNTEERS' REUNION

The Executive Committee_ set up to make arrangements for holding a social gathering for members associated with the old Volunteer Defence Force, to be held during Show Week, met on Saturday evening in the 11.5. A. Committee rooms. Major J. S. Douglas presided, and a representative attendance of the respective units was present. Reports from the sub-committees were submitted, and the following recommendation was adopted :—The re-union to take the form of a smoko social, to be held in the Town Hall Concert Chamber on Saturday evening, June 20, admission tickets to bo available to exVolunteors 1862-1911. Ex-Sergeant J. Rigby was appointed to supervise the catering, and Lieutenant J. D. Cameron director of the entertainment programme. The chairman submitted a tentative outline for the evening, which provides for only three official toasts. Arrangements have been made for a broadcast on the Volunteer Defence Forces in Otago at an early date, ami Colonel G. Barclay will probably undertake this talk. It was decided to advertise inviting persons intending to be present to,forward their applications to the secretaries as early as possible so as to facilitate the catering arrangements. It is intended to invite the Minister for Defence. Hon. F. Jones, to attend the function.
