A DESERVING CASE.
- TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —The Necessitous Cases Committee of the Mayor’s llelief Organization has had brought to its notice the following very needy and deserving ease, and would be grateful for any publicity you could give to it. The circumstances are as follows:
Some three weeks ago a fire occurred, and as the result, a man, his wife, and five children were left homeless. Kindhearted friends took into shelter the various members of the family, and they have now secured another house. Unfortunately they have only beds, a couch, two chairs, and a small table to put in it, these being given by the people who had sheltered them. The above organisation has given immediate assistance in the matter of bedding, and now .appeals to the readers of your paper for any articles of furniture, curtains, floor coverings, linen, or crockery. The man concerned has .been on relief work since 1931. and as he is now 60 years of age, he has little hope of replacing the goods accumulated in 28 years of married life. If anyone having goods to give will ring the writer, telephone 11-533, wo will arrange for the articles to bo collected. Parcels may also be left at the Central Office, Hannah’s Buildings, 24a George street.—l am etc., David S. Shard. (Secretary Necessitous Cases Committee. May 1.
