SUNDAY SERVICES

At First Church the services will be conducted by the Rev. W. Allen Stevcly, whoso subjects will bo, in tho. morning, ‘The Golden Cord,’ and, in the' evening, ‘ Seven Wonders.’ The morning music will include the quartet ‘ By Cool Siloam's Shady Kill,’ and in the evening the duet ‘ When I Survey the Wondrous Cross’ (Holst), and the anthem ‘ The Day Thou Gavest ’ will be sung. Dr Galway will be at the organ. At Knox Church the seventy-sixth anniversary services will bo conducted by the Rev. J. Lawson Kobiuson, 8.A., of St. Andrew’s Church, Christchurch. At the evening service Mr Ivan Menzics, of the Gilbert and Sullivan Operatic Company, will speak on the Oxford Group Movement. Anniversary thankofferings will be received at both services for the reduction of the debt.

At the morning service in St. Stephen’s Presbyterian Church the Rev. Thomas Miller will preach on ‘ What United Prayer May Do.’ In tho evening his subject will be ‘ What the Bible May Be To Us.’ Mr .1. Edwin Orr. the evangelist from Belfast, Ireland, will preach at Trinity Methodist Church in the morning. The evening service wdll be conducted by the Rev. >t. F. Jack, of Oamaru. The anthem will bo ‘ God, That Madcst Earth and Heaven.’ A communion service will follow.

The services at the Methodist Central Mission will be conducted in the morning by the Rev. B. M. Tasker, and in the evening tho Rev. Mr Neale will conduct the service. The soloist will be Mr E. Paris. Bible Sundav is being observed at St. Kilda Methodist Church. In the evening there is a Bible Class rally. Rev. T Skuse is the preacher, and Miss Mable Urquart will sing the solo, ‘By Still Water. The Rev. T. Keith Ewen will conduct both services at the Hanover Street Baptist Church. In the morning his subject will be ‘ The Saviour’s Defence of Sublime Devotion ’ and in the evening he will speak on ‘ Twice As Much.’ Tho soloist will be Miss Rita Shrimpton. A musical service will be held at 6.3 U p.m. in the Cavorsham Baptist Church. The Rev. R. L. Fursdon will take for hts address the question ‘ What’s the Use of Praying?’ Solos will bo rendered by Mrs A. M‘Lintock and Mr D. Maxwell. The choir will sing ‘ The Sun Shall Bo No Moro Thy Light By Day.’ Self-denial offerings will be received at both morning and evening services. Divine worship both morning and evening at Moray Place Congregational Cirurch will be conducted by the Rev. W. M. Isitt, B. The choir will render the anthem, ‘ How Beautiful Upon the Mountains (Spinney), and the Sacrament of the Lords Supper will be administered after the evening service. . , Services at Uniied Congregational Church will be conducted by the Rev. C. G. Hcdley Bycroft, who wilt take as the title for Ins morning service ‘ What Kind of Man Christ Makes.’ For the evening session, when the Misses Grace and Edna Clark will smg a duet, Mr Bycroft will take as his subject ‘ A Most Profitable Guest.’ The evening service fit \ork Place Hall will he conducted by Mr Harold Williams, who for many years has been engaged in foreign mission work in tho Belgian Congo in connection with the Heart of Africa Mission. Mr Williams was for four and a-half years associated with the late Mr C. T. Studd. the founder of the Heart of Africa Mission. On Monday evening, at 7.30, Mr and Mrs Williams, associated with Mr A. I. Davidson, missionary-designate to Spam, will give an illustrated lecture on mission work in Africa and in Spain. Everyone is invited to hear these addresses. Mrs Major Coffin, the Scotch evangelist, will bp the speaker at each of the services at tl« Salvation Army, Dowling street. Mrs Coffin, who is a powerful, passionate speaker, has been moving her hearers with great Gospel messages. “ Pharos,” the Egyptian, will again give a trance address through Mrs Gladys Davies at the Spiritualist Church in the evening. Tho subject will be nominated by the audience. Clairvoyant messages will follow. The Lyceum reopens in the afternoon, and the Healing Centre will meet this (Saturday) evening. First Church of Christ, Scientist, will conduct services in Allbell Chambers, Stuart street. The subject of the morning and evening services will be ‘ Everlasting Punishment.’ At tho Thoosophical Society Mr R. N. Ridd will give an address on ‘ The Art of Healing.’ . . At the Greater World Christian Spiritualist. Mission divine service will be conducted. Mrs Brooks will speak on ‘ Tho Moving Finger Writes.’ Clairvoyance and an aftercircle will follow.
