TROTTING AT FORBURY

WINTRY WEATHER-HEAVY TRACK South-westerly squalls, with intermittent hail, prevailed for the concluding day of the Forbury Park Trotting Club's Winter fleeting to-day. Despite such miserable conditions which after all were only seasonable—a fair crowd was present when the meeting began, and it swelled considerably during the afternoon. Considering the heavy rain experienced overnight, the track was in surprisingly satisfactory order at the start, but it became badly cut up after the second race. Results:

San Michele, who ran fourth in botli races for unhoppled trotters the first day. led out from t.So start, and passing the stand after going two furlongs was three lengths clear of Calm Queen, Patty Todd, Annio Moko, Parrish Chimes, Tyrone Lass,' with Great Wood moving up fast. Going down the back Parrish Chimes moved np into third place, with San Michele increasing her lead from a strung-out field. With five furlongs to go, San Michele had a lead of ten lengths from Calm Queen, two lengths Parrish Chimes, Patty Todd, and Gaynor. Going down the back Great Wood broke in moving up on the field. He regained quickly. San Michele increased her lead round the top by fifteen lengths, and ran homo an easy winner by eighteen lengths from Great Wood, who got up to beat Gaynor by two lengths. Calm Queen was close up fourth, followed by Patty Todd, Times: 3min 52 3-sscc. 3min, 49 l-ssec, Smin 52 3-ssec.

Also started; 1-3 Nell Grattan scr (E. Todd), 3-1 Rewai scr (.1. Bryce, jun.), 4-4 Tenor scr (L. A. Maidens), 2-2 Glorietta (R. Townley, jun.), and 7-6 Silver Guy 12 (A. M‘Lel»n). Donalda broke up at the start and Nell Grattan and Silver Guy were slow away. Rewai was smartest away and led Myrna Loy by two lengths after going two furlongs. Then came Tenor and Glorietta racing in close order. Glorietta broke after going another two furlongs and dropped right back. Rewai still had charge going down the back from .Myrna Loy, Tenor, Donalda, and Precious Metal racing in close order. Tenor broke going around the top and Rewai led into tho straight at the head of a bunch. In the run to the post Precious Metal got up to beat Myrna Loy by a head. Donalda being one and a-half lengths away third, followed by Rewai. Times: 3min 46 4-ssee, 3rnin 47sec, 3miu 47 2-osec.

Frost), 8-7 Lone Derby 12 (R. Young), and 3-4 Valdor 12 <R. B. Berry). Stilling Ladj", who was elected a good first favourite, broke up badly at the start and ruined her chances of winning. Broughshane also broke and Lough Guy showed the way to Frank Mac, Mary do Oro, Valdor, and Fairhaven, all racing in close order. There was little change going down tho back, and Lough Guy was first into the straight, while Stirling Lady commenced a run which put her amongst the placed horses. Eighteen Carat also came with a fast run and just “ pipped ” Lough Guy on the post by half a length, Stirling Lady being a long neck back third, a similar distance in front of Mary de Oro. Times; 3min 27 2-ssec, 3min 27 3-ssec, 3rnin 27 4-ssec.

Lucky Jack broke up badly at the start, and practically tailed the field throughout. Embark, Eastern Prince, Loretta, and Trireme were the early leaders, and they raced in close order for about five furlongs, when Vologda and Southern Smile moved up into second and third places respectively to Embark. Eastern Prince had dropped back into fourth place and after another two furlongs dropped out altogether, being displaced by Loretta and Trireme. There was not much change in the order lacing down the back, and Embark led into the straight from Southern Smile, Vologda. Loretta, and Trireme. Southern Smile shot to the front once the straight was entered and won easing up by four lengths from Vologda, who beat Embark by two lengths, Trireme being one and a-half lengths away fourth, followed by Loretta. Times: 3miu 25 3-ssec, 3min 2osec, 3miu 27, 3-ssec.

Scratched: Iraq, Grand Mogul, Cloudy Range, Grace APElwyn, llayclus, Vesuvius. Battlefield broke at the start and Agile was slow away. Sea Gift led out and after a furlong Guy Junior had run up into second place from Peter Locanda, Sylvia Sydney, and Battlefield, who made up his lost ground quickly. Guy Junior took the lead going into the back from Battlefield, Sylvia Sydney, and Agile. At the. mile , post Guy Junior still had charge and Francis Lincoln moved into third place. With five furlongs to go the order was Guy Junior, Battlefield, Francis Lincoln,, and Willow Wave, who had a good run on the rails, followed by Sea Gift. Three furlongs from home the order was the same, but approaching the home turn Willow Wave shot to the front and won comfortably by three lengths from Guy Junior, who beat Francis Lincoln by two lengths.
