WOOL CONSUMPTION

HEALTHY POSITION MAINTAINED ECONOMIC COMMITTEE'S FINDINGS Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, April 29. (Received April 30, at 11.25 a.m.) The Imperial Economic Committee has issued a 300-(jage survey of the world consumption of wool in 46 countries from 1928 to 1935, showing that consumption has maintained a healthy statistical position. The factors contributing to this are the maintenance of activity in the United Kingdom, which uses one-fifth of the estimated world production, and the increased consumption of the raw wool industry in Japan, the bulk of whose increased manufactures were absorbed at home. The future development of the Japanese industry appears to lie in the possibilities of export expansion, unless the low standard of living in Japan, Korea, and Manchukuo can be raised.
