INTERISLAND EXPRESS. The interisland express steamer Wahine arrived at Lyttelton from Wellington at 6.40 this morning. Passengers and mail for the south connected with the express. TAINUI SAILING MAY 6. The Tainni’s final sailing date lias now been fixed for Wednesday, May 6, when she will leave Wellington at noon for London and Southampton via Panama. She is due at London on June 7. TRANSPACIFIC MAIL SERVICES. —Northbound.— Maunganui left Sydney on April 8 and Wellington on April 14 for San Francisco via Rarotonga and Papeete. She is now due at San Francisco on Sunday. Aorangi left Sydney on April 20 and Auckland on April 27 for Vancouver via Suva and Honolulu. She is due at Vancouver on May 15. Mariposa left Sydney on April 22 and Auckland on April 25 for Los Angeles and San Francisco via Suva, Pago Pago, and Honolulu. She is due at Los Angeles on May 16 and at San Francisco on May 18Makura is to leave Sydney on May 7 and Wellington on May 11 for San Francisco via Rarotonga and Papeete. NEW LINER ORDERED. An order for the laying down of a new liner for the South American route, to take the place of L’Atlantique, has been given by M. de Chappedelaine, French Minister for Merchant Marine. The vessel will bo built in the Penhoet shipyards at St. Nazaire, and will take about two and a-half years to complete. Some 4,000 workmen will be employed, and 110,000,000 francs paid out in wages. She will have a displacement of 30,000 tons, and will cost 180,000,000 francs (about £2,500,000). The cost, however, will be covered by the insurance companies for the loss of L’Atlantique. MONOWAI’S TRANSHIPMENTS. The Union Company’s liner Monowai, which arrived at Wellington on Monday afternoon from Sydney, brought transhipments ex Comorin, Miklura, Goulburn, Talunc. Canberra, Orford, Saross. Mareeba, Momba, Nankin, Calcutta Maru, Marella, and Baradine, MOVEMENTS. —Coastal.— Storm is due this evening from Wanganui direct, and is timed to sail to-morrow evening for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Wanganui. Karu was expected this afternoon from Nelson direct. She will sail late this evening for Wellington. Nelson, and New Plymouth via ports. Waipiata is due on Sunday from Lyttelton, and will load out on Monday for Bluff, Timaru. Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland. Kaimai leaves Westport on Monday for Lyttelton, Oamaru, and Dunedin. She is expected here on Saturday, April 9. Port Waikato is to load to-morrow for Wellington, Tauranga, Auckland, and Whangarei. Holmdale is scheduled to load on Monday for Wellington, Picton, and Wanganui via ports. —Overseas.— John Knusden was expected to sail to-day for Auckland to complete discharge. Limerick is not expected here until Saturday afternoon. She will sail on Monday for Bluff, Melbourne, Sydney, and San Francisco. Salvhs, with newsprint from Nova Scotia, is now expected here on Sunday. Cape of Good Hope, with asphalt from Tampico via northern ports, is due here to-morrow. The Rotorua is now due here on Sunday. Port Hobart has been delayed at Lyttelton by rain, but it is expected to despatch her this evening for Dunedin. After discharging here she will commence loading at Nelson, her other ports being New Plymouth, Auckland, Gisborne, Napier, and Wellington, sailing finally from the latter port on May 23. She is due at London on June 29. Brisbane Maru arrived early this morning from Yokohama via Melbourne. ' She is expected to sail tomorrow for northern ports to complete discharge and load general cargo for Japanese ports. Port Gisborne is due here on May 8. She arrived at Auckland on May 27 from Glasgow and Liverpool. Canadian Challenger arrived here last evening from Halifax via Melbourne after an uneventful trip. Good weather was experienced all the way, and the vessel made good time, arriving at Dunedin a little ahead of her schedule. The Canadian Challenger will discharge and load general cargo here, and will sail later for Lyttelton and Wellington. PERSONAL. Captain E. S. Wilson is in command of the Canadian Challenger, which arrived at Dunedin last evening, and his officers are;—Chief, H. Salsman; second, J. Burt; third, 11. Blagden; chief engineer, L.
