TAXATION CHARGES Elsewhere in this issue appears an intimation by the Secretary of Labour that on May 1 the usual quarterly instalment of the general unemployment levy will become due, and that on the same date will also fall due the first instalment of the emergency unemployment charge of Sd in the £ on income other than salary or wages derived during the year ended March 31, 1936* BENEFIT CONCERT The Dunedin South Town Hall wa» filled to capacity on Thursday last when a concert arranged by the Dunedin South branch of the New Zealand Labour Party for the benefit of Air J. Nash and family was held. As the result of the public’s generous support this fund should benefit considerably. An excellent programme was arranged by Air J. P. Ruth, president of the branch, the following items being contributed:—St. Philomcna’s Choir* ‘ The Aleeting of the Waters ’; Air D. Alontagne, song; Signora Stella* ‘ Home Sweet Home ’; Air Les.Stewart, tenor solo (‘ Wander Thirst’); Alaster Eddie Redmond* cornet solo; Air L. Ford, song (‘ Young Tom o’ Devon’); Aliss B. Herlihy* song (‘The Brown Bird’); Air APLelland, song; Aliss Ray Alantell, song (‘ The Gay Parisienne ’); and Air E. White, song. The accompanists for the evening were Airs J.
