SOUTHLAND POWER BOARD
A SATISFACTORY YEAR [Per United, Press Association.] INVERCARGILL, April 28. Reporting on the activities of the Southland Electric Power Board during the past year, the chairman (Mr W. Hinchey) stated at a meeting of the board to-day that it was estimated that at the , beginning of the year the revenue ' would '■ be £142,023. The actual revenue proved to be £146,758, or £4,735 in excess of the estimate. It was also estimated that there would be a bank overdraft for the year amounting to £33,966, but the working bank account ended with a credit of £9,357. On the expenditure side the outgoings were £3,249 below the estimated expenditure. It was estimated that even after providing for a rate of threefifths of a penny there would be a deficit of £8,882 in the net revenue account, whereas the actual result, after making provision for increased suspense allowances, was a surplus of £4,014. Both consumers and load showed, satisfactory increases.
