FOUR PREMISES ENTERED [Pee United Peess Association.] AUCKLAND, April 28. Police parties raided four premises in different parts of the city this afternoon and arrested 21 men, including a number of Chinese. The raids were made in connection with alleged breaches of the Gaming Act. They attracted considerable attention, and large crowds gathered. No difficulty was experienced in entering any of the four premises, and there was no resistance to arrest. From each building the police emerged with a considerable quantity of slips, and other material alleged to be used in the playing of pakapoo. The cases will be heard in the Police Court to-morrow. FINES INFLICTED [Pee United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, April 29. In the court to-day Wong Lee, who pleaded not guilty, was convicted of using premises in Grey’s Avenue as a common gaming house. Mr Hunt said that as it was his first appearance he would fine him only £l2 10s. Wong Yen (72) pleaded guilty to a similar charge in respect to premises in Pitt street, and was fined £25, or three months, he having been previously fined. Wong Lock pleaded guilty to a similar charge respecting premises in Hobson street. He was a first offender, and was fined £l2 10s. A charge against Mee Nam Lowe, of Grey’s Avenue, was dismissed. Fourteen men charged with being found on the premises, were fined £1 each. Three similar charges were dismissed.
