TRACK WORK [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, April 7. Owing to ground fog some difficulty was experienced in timing the horses early, but it cleared at about 7 o’clock, and perfect weather conditions prevailed afterwards. The bulk of the fast work was done on the course proper, on which the poles were out 55ft, and No. 3 grass and sand tracks were also in use. Several good efforts were recorded, including those of Rereatu, Nun Nicer, Epris, and Kilberis, while Wagner and Quadroon also shaped well over half a mile. On the course proper Valspear did seven furlongs in Imin 3fsec, going nicely, the last six furlongs taking Imin 23 4-6 sec. Shy and Persian Lady ran seven furlongs in Imin 34 l-sse’c. Gay Broney was going nicely beside Hohana over six furlongs in Imin 22 2-ssec. The best seven furlongs of the morning was that of Rereatu and Nun Nicer, who finished well in front of Psychologist in Imin 30 4-ssec. The jumper Saltspray _ set out to school over four hurdles in the centre. He jumped the first two safely, but fell at the last, and his rider was badly shaken and taken to the casualty room, but was later reported to be all right. However, his display, taken all round, was good. Billy Boy jumped cleverly throughout, and Town Beauty, who was not bustled, also gave a safe display. Arrivals this morning include Spiral, Moquette, Entail, Notinm, Forest Glow, Haut Monde, Birthday Party, Black Friar, and Karl. SCRATCHINGS. Emancipation was scratched for the Brighton Hurdles at 10.14 a.m., and Nun Nicer for the President’s Handicap at 10.20.
