ITALIAN WOMEN’S PART
BEAUTY MUST BE HOME-MADE The following is a letter to the 1 Giornale d’ltalia,’ Koine, from the secretary of the blanch of the Fascist Women’s Organisation:— “We women are never afraid t f sacrifices! Every woman is in the world for service. In this time of war we are ready, tingling, to answer our call to arms and to serve the idea which hinds us to her. With the blessing of God, in the name of the King, by order cf the Duce, Victory shall be ours! Whatever be the cost, no woman’s hand must foul itself at this time with cosmetics from sanctionist countries! “ W T e had got used, I know, to Coty’s ‘ eau de cologne,’ to Petalia ‘ chypre,’ to Lutex enamel, to Madely’s cream. We must give up all these things. The greater the sacrifice, the greater the merit! “ Ladies should know that our country does not ask them to neglect themselves, to he ugly. No, by heaven, it is not right that the figlxters should come back and find their women spoiled . . . by sanctions ! Strong men want beautiful women. “ So if you want a cream or a scent, let it be an Italian make! There are so many on the market far superior to some of the concoctions from beyond the frontier which are sold with a great show of labels and bottles. “And once for all let the advertisements of foreign products disappear from all self-respecting newspapers. If there is to be a struggle, let it bo thorough! It makes one ill 1o see English or French products lauded to ilie skies by the very paper which in - c'ighs against sanctions.”
