FINANCE POLICY

HO PIECEMEAL STATEMENTS [Pbb United Press Association.] . WELLINGTON, February 28. A •determination to make no statements of a piecemeal nature regarding details of the Government’s financial proposals was expressed by the Prime Minister, Mr Savage, in an interview to-day. Neither he nor the members of the Government intended to allow themselves to be lost in a mist of rumours and denials, he said. “At any rate,” said Mr Savage, “ the Government will see to it that when the time comes there will be no misunderstanding on the part of the public regarding what we intend to do. When the Bills are introduced and explained—that is, to the representatives of the people in Parliament —we will see to it that there is no room for any doubt as to what it is meant to accomplish. A full explanation of the provisions of the legislation will be given, not only to the public of New Zealand, but also to the public of Great Britain and elsewhere. Wc don’t want our objective to be misunderstood. Mr Savage agreed that keen interest was being taken in the Government’s work beyond the' shores of New Zealand, and he remarked that just recently he had received from a German newspaper a request for his photograph. The newspaper added that it had everything else it needed, the inference apparently being that news of the Labour Government and its objectives had reached Germany.
