ROYAL SCHOOLS OF MUSIC AWARDS The following awards of exhibitions and medals have been made to candidates who sat for the examinations conducted in 1935 by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, London:— EXHIBITIONS. An exhibition, valued at £l5O per annum, tenable for two years at the Royal Academy of Music, London (awarded every second year).-—Jean 0. M'Leod (Miss I. Lassen, Christchurch), pianoforte. Two exhibitions, valued at £SO per annum, tenable for two years. —Marie J. Eerti (Mr Hamilton Dickson, Wellington), violoncello (at the Royal Academy of Music, London) ; Margaret L. Thorp (Mr P. W. Tombs, Napier), pianoforte (at the Royal College of Music, London). LICENTIATE EXAMINATIONS. Two prizes of £25 each awarded to candidates gaining the highest marks in each island.—North Island; Margaret L. Thorp (Mr P. W. Tombs, Napier), pianoforte. South Island: Jean O. M'Leod (Miss I. Lassen, Christchurch), pianoforte.
GRADE Vlil. (FINAL) PRIZES. A prize of £lO and free entry for licentiate to the candidate gaining liighest marks. —Tui M‘Leod (Mrs Mackey, Wellington), pianoforte. Free entry for licentiate to the three candidates gaining next highest marks. —Teresa A. M'Sherry (the Convent, Greymouth), violin; Margaret Boult (Dominican Nuns, Invercargill), pianoforte ; Cassi© Gann (Mr Alfred Bunz, Christchurch), pianoforte. LOCAL EXHIBITIONS (£ls and £lO each). Grade VII. (Advanced). Alma Gimblett (Mr Alfred Bunz, Christchurch), pianoforte. Grade VI. (Intermediate). —Una R. Murray (the Convent, Greymouth), violin. MEDALS. Grade VIII. (Final), Gold Medal.— Tui M'Leod (Mrs Mackay, Wellington) , pianoforte. Grade VIII. (Final), Silver Medal.— Teresa A. M'Sherry (the Convent, Greymouth), violin. Grade VII. (Advanced) Gold Medal. —Brian Withers (Mr W. L. Haggitt, Wellington), organ. Grade VI. (Intermediate). Gold Medal.—l). Pauline Craig (Miss Ava Symons, Wellington), violin. Silver medals in Grades VII. and VI. cannot be awarded, as no candidates cp.iahTmd to receive them.
THE VIOLET WARD PRIZE (Christchurch). The winner is Alma Gimblett (Mr Alfred Bunz, Christchurch), pianoforte.
