JOTTINGS, Nominations for the Wyndliam Trotting Club’s Meeting next month close to-morrow at 5 p.m. Nominations for the Cromwell Jockey Club’s Annual Meeting close tomorrow at 8 p.m. M‘Heath won the Racing Club Handicap very easily, and was evidently a much improved horse for the two races he had at Winton last week. Honest Maid very nearly brought off a sensational dividend at Gore, as there was only £l3 invested on her chance on the win machine on the Racing Club Handicap. A southerly in Cook Strait yesterday Tendered it inadvisable to ship nine Wellington horses to the Marlborough races, which have been postponed from Friday and Saturday to Saturday and Monday. Osculate looked well when stripped for the Racing Club Handicap at Gore, but put up an indifferent performance. He appeared to meet with some trouble approaching the far turn, and was one of the last to finish. The. defeat of Wyn yesterday was costly to followers of F, Shaw’s stable. This filly failed to jump out as smartly as some of the others and did not get a good run until after the straight was reached. Two winners at Gore had their tasks made much easier by the advantages they received at the start of their respective races. They were Song Boy and Ocean Singer. The former was lame after his race, and may require a short spell. The Gore trainer, A. J. Scott, has made a marked improvement in Blue Spark since he has had charge of him, and in yesterday’s race he went nearly 16sec inside his assessment. His finishing run down the straight was one of the best ever seen on the course. Island Linnet added another placed performance to her lengthy list when she finished second to Ocean Singer yesterday. This mare was recently purchased by a client of F. W. Ellis’s stable, and just before yesterday’s race was sold again, her purchaser on this occasion being the Gore trainer, T. G. Pollock. Clara Bow, Violeiita, and Mayam were withdrawn from the Longford Hack Handicap, and Final Bell was made £l6 10s better favourite than Wild Cai'eer with Amelita a good third choice. From a very prompt start Ada’s colours showed out first, hut before a furlong had been covered Wild Career ran to the front and was followed along the back by Wall Street, Ada, Paladino, and the favourite. After rounding the far turn Wild Career drew out three lengths dear, and was that distance in front of Wall Street turning for home, with Ada and Final Bell next. Wild Career maintained his advantage and beat Wall Street by three lengths. Ada was a length and a-half away third, followed by Ballad, Red Treasure, and Amelita with Final Bell and Paladino last. Coat of Arms, Western Song. Night Sail, Waiau Maid, and Sir Rosenor were withdrawn from the Novice Handicap at Gore, for which Wyn was sent out £ll4 10s better favourite than Sunny Jean, with Moneyless a good third choice. Gambler’s Luck was the smartest to jump out, and led Moneyless. Obligernent, and Stratosphere along the back and round the far turn. Racing across . the top Moneyless headed Gambler’s Luck and led into the straight from Gambler’s Luck, Obligernent, the favourite, and Stratosphere. At the distance, Wyn, who had a bad passage earlier in the race, made a challenge, but failed by a length to reach Moneyless. Gambler’s Lubk was two lengths away third, followed by Sunny Jean, Stratosphere, and Pink Del. In a field of five, Vavemai and Bonny Juno being withdrawn, Latitude was sent out a very hot favourite for the Gore High-weight Handicap, carrying well over half the pool invested on the win machine, Tmpala being the best backed of the others. Johnny at once took charge and led Golden Song and Latitude over the first three furlongs, then the favourite moved up into second place, and was a couple of lengths behind Johnny rounding the far turn with Goldeji Song on his quarters. Latitude headed Johnny on the homo turn, where Look Smart ran into third place. At the distance Latitude was in trouble, and Johnny headed him again and won by a length and a-half from Look Smart, who got up to heat the favourite by half a length. Irapala was a poor fourth. When the winner returned to scale it was found that he had carried 101 b short weight, the lead bag having been left hanging on a rail when he was saddled. Johnny was disqualified for the race, and 'first _ place was awarded to Ixiok Smart with Latitude second and Impala third.

TROTTING. March 6, 7. —Invercargill T.C. March 7.—Wellington T.C. March 14. —Timaru T.C. March 18.—Wyndliam T.C, March 21.—Taranaki T.C. March 23.—Roxburgh T.C, March 28. —Wanganui T.C. March 23.—Cheviot T.C. April 4.—Wanganui T.C. April 11, 13.—Hawera T.C. April 11. 14.—N.Z. Metropolitan T.C. April 15.—Rotorua T.C. April 18. —Ashburton T.C. April 18, 22.—Manawatu T.C. April 30, May 2. —Forbury Park T.C May 2.—Cambridge T.C. May 7. —Marlborough T.C.

Lochlaggan was withdrawn from the Croydon Handicap at Gore, and Song Boy was £63 10s better fancied than Beam. The start was a bad one. Silk Paper and Song Boy came in on the move and obtained about three lengths’ advantage from Beam. Song Boy and Silk Paper raced together to the far turn, then the former took charge and at the home turn Beam, joined Silk Paper. Song Boy had to be ridden out to beat Silk Paper by half a, length, with Beam a length farther back third, with Penelope a bad fourth.

M'Heath was £47 10s better fancied than Grand Finale, with Osculate nearly as well backed lor the Gore Racing Club Handicap. Daring Deed got chopped out at the start, and Grand Finale led Great Shot, M‘Heath, and Enwood through the straight. Racing past the seven furlong post Grand Finale was two lengths clear of M'Heath, with Honest Maid on his quarters, and Great Shot at the first of the others. There was no change racing along the back, but at the far turn Honest Maid headed the favourite and joined Grand Finale as they turned for home, M'Heath and Daring Deed being next. At the distance Grand Finale was beaten, and a little further on the favourite headed off Honest Maid and beat her home, a length and a-half. Grand Finale was a half a length away third, and Great Shot was fourth, though the judges placed Daring Deed in that position, Enwood and Osculate were next, and Toreador, beaten off, last.

Only Happy Star was missing from the Electric Trot at Gore, and in a field of 21, the three-year-old Creep was installed £27 better favourite than the Worthy Claire-Seaward de Oro bracket, these two chances being much better backed than any of the others. The favourite did hot begin well, and Worthy Claire led out from Sunny Drive, Bright Logan, Huia Chimes, and Warhaven. Excepting that Guywin had moved up into fourth place there was no change passing the stand at the end of half a mile. Racing along the back Seaward de Oro moved up, and at the far turn Worthy Claire was showing the way to Seaward de Oro, Guywin, and Huia Chimes, the four racing in close order, and well clear of the others. Worthy Claire and Seaward de Oro were first into the straight from Guywin and Huia Chimes, and in the run to the post Worthy Claire beat Guywin by three lengths. Seaward de Oro, who was bracketed with the winner, was half a length away third, with Huia Chimes, Creep, and Grand Meteor next.

Master Lee and Dusky were withdrawn from the Progressive Trot at Gore, for which Silver Guy was made a short-priced favourite, £7l> 10s better backed than Tritoma, with Stirling Lady next fancied. Silver Guy began very quickly and was followed over the first half-mile by Guywin and Erin’s Star, Shandon Chimes and Stirling Lady making up their handicaps well. At the end of six furlongs Silver Guy was racing two lengths clear of Guywin, who just headed Erin’s Star, Stirling Lady, Blue Spark, and Shandon Chimes. There was no change until approaching the home turn, when Guywin joined the favourite, and the pair were followed by Stirling Lady, Blue Spark, and Shandon Chimes. The favourite then retired, and as Guywin and Stirling Lady were fighting out a good finish Blue Spark put in a great run on the outside of the course and got up to beat Stirling Lady by a length, with Guywin half a length off third. Then followed Silver Guy and Shandon Chimes.

M'Heath and Stratosphere were with drawn from the Summer Hack Handicap, and Island Linnet, with A. E. Ellis up, was £126 better fancied than Ocean Singer. A bad start spoiled the favourite’s chance and Dazzling Eyes and Ocean Singer led out of the straight and into the back. At the far turn Dazzling Eyes was just in front of Ocean Singer with Bay Biddy next. Ocean Singer joined Dazzling Eyes on the home turn, the pair being three lengths clear of Bay Biddy, with another good gap to Island Linnet. In the run home Ocean Singer drew out to win bv three lengths from Island Linnet, who got up to beat Dazzling Eyes a length. Bay Biddy was a head away fourth, and Porapax next.
