TEPID MINERAL BATHS
NEW PLYMOUTH SCHEME Tepid mineral baths are to be established in New Pylraouth as the result of investigation of water from the springs on the site of an old oil well on the Bonithon Estate, South road, stated the ‘ Taranaki Herald.’ The clearing of the area has been commenced and the building of a bathhouse decided upon. A feature of the mineral water is the particularly large _ proportion of iodine content, which is not usual in New Zealand. An analysis shows that the water is muriated saline water. This differs from sea water mainly in containing very much more calcium bicarbonate and practically no sulphates. 5
The building will provide a blu# swimming bath, ten mineral baths, four herbal vapour cabinets, dry heat baths; sponging and massaging tables, and electric rays on the ground floor. Th® first floor will be furnished with sua baths and accommodation for 30 convalescents, with all up-to-date conveniences.
