A new type of stainless steel, which, it is claimed, will revolutionise score* of industries, has been evolved by * Sheffield scientist, Mr F. F. Gordon. Tho method, briefly stated, is to giv* ordinary steel a coating of stainles* steel, which will protect it from rust. The coating can be as thin as one* thousandth of an inch. This opensup possibilities of stainless steel ships, bridges, aeroplanes, railway carriages, and springs, to mention only a few directions -in which it is stated this invention could be applied.
