BARTER PROPOSAL

REJECTED BY AUSTRALIA RETALIATORY MEASURES IN GERMANY Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, February 24. (Received February 25, at 1 p.m.) The Australian Associated Press Association’s Berlin correspondent writes that, supposedly in consequence of the Australians rejecting the wool-for-mbtor-parts barter proposal, the Reichabank has issued a decree rejecting all applications for permission to conduct private barter of German goods for New Zealand and Australian wool. It states that several “ foreigner accounts ” were opened at the Reichsbank to which was credited the value of German goods exported to New Zealand and Australia to finance the import of wool. It is assumed that the decree means that every import of wool must be preceded by the purchase of a shipment of German products by the woolexporting country.
