ST. CLAIR CARNIVAL

SEASON OPENS TO-MORROW 'A veritable army of electricians, carpenters, and tent makers is now working at full pressure in order to have everything in readiness for the grand opening of St. Clair’s 1936 leap year carnival, at 7.30 p.m. to-morrow. The signal that the carnival is well and truly opened will be the switching on of thousands of flood lights on to the ocean breakers—a sight which is said to bo worth coming a long way to see. That the St. Clair carnival is a popular function can easily be gauged by the fact that_ last _-'>ar 25,000 people visited the carnival in three days, and it is hoped to establish new records this year. An augmented tram service will bo run on the carnival nights, and ample provision is being made for the parking of motor cars. lustra attractions will be introduced this year, and there will be games, entertainments, and spectacles for everybody. To-mor-row night the traditional arrival of the White Island ” party 'with its attendant humour will take place. AH that is wanted to make the function another unqualified success is fine .weather and the same generous support of the public as previously. The purchase of a lucky badge carries with St the “ freedom of the Esplanade." •
