M.C.C. V. AUCKLAND ENGLISHMEN'S GOOD FIRST WICKET SCORE [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, February 24 Requiring 208 to overtake Auckland, and with no wickets down, Barber (42) and Parks (54) resumed for Marylebone on a fast wicket to the bowling of Matheson and Cowie. Barber, with a single off both, brought up England’s 100, making the second century partnership of the match. The bowling was steady and the fielding keen, a quarter of an hour’s play producing only 10 runs. Barber, with a crisp drive off Cowie, reached 50 in 90 minutes. At 119 Garrard replaced Cowie, who changed to the other end to get the benefit of the light breeze. When 64 Parks nearly pulled Cowie’s last ball on to his wicket.. With the total at 125 and Parks at 65, Edmonds missed an easy stumping chance off Garrard, who was turning the ball. The score at noon was 126 without loss. Parks 66, Barber 68, extras 2.
