EXPOSURE CASE
CHARGE AGAINST POLICE INSPECTOR WITHDRAWN [Pee Fnitbd Press Association.] GISBORNE, February 24. The charge of wilful obscene exposure on Waikanae' Beach against Henry Martin, police inspector, of Gisborne, was withdrawn to-day. Leave to withdraw was sought on January 31 by Mr L. T. Burnard, who acted on behalf of the woman who proceeded against the accused on a private information. The magistrate (Mr E. L. Walton) then said that in view of the allegations he would not grant the application, but would report the matter to Wellington. Accordingly the matter was adjourned. When the case was called to-day Mr Burnard repeated his application for withdrawal. In doing so he undertook to make available if called upon by any office of the department any information or evidence he had in connection with the matter.
The application for leave to withdraw was granted.
