Having been fitted with a new dental plate, the vicar was asked to retire into an ante room to accustom himself to it. In a few minutes the dentist overheard a distinct “ Damnation ” from the other room, and in a moment the word was repeated. The dentist immediately went in and said: “I’m sorry you’re having trouble.” “No trouble at all,” said the vicar. “ You know that word is used in the Scriptures, and the fact is I haven’t been able to pronounce it properly for 20 years.”-
