OVERCOME BY FUMES. While fumigating on board the Narbada at Port Chalmers yesterday, Joseph Varino, aged 32, a resident or Port Chalmers, was overcome by tha fumes and fell about 15ft down the hold. He was admitted to the hospital at 3.30 suffering from Concussion and cyanide poisoning. His condition i» not serious. BICYCLE SKIDS IN LOOSE GRAVEL. James Moore, a single man, aged 21’ years, residing ■at 73 Norwood suffered a fracture of the left leg when his bicycle skidded in some loose gravel in Driver’s road. He was admitted to hospital at 0.25 a.m. yesterday. FALL OF ROCK ATWAIPORI. James Patterson, married, aged SO,' of SVaipori Falls, was admitted to tha Dunedin Public Hospital at 5.45 p.m.-. on Saturday suffering from a fractured left leg. The injury was received through a fall of rock in the tunnel at Waipori Falls where he was working. CYCLISTS COLLIDE WITH CAR. A minor collision between a hicycla and a motor car occurred near the intersection of Maitland street and tha Main South road yesterday. Two boys,David Kaye, of Broughton street, and a lad named Sheridan, of Macandrew road, were - double-banking down tha hill in Maitland street when their cycla got out of control and struck the car. Kaye suffered slightly from shock, bujneither was seriously injured, KNOCKED DOWN BY CAR. Knocked down by a motor car at' the intersection of the Great South road and Manukau road, Auckland, last evening, a pedestrian, an elderly man named John W. Beeston, of Epsom, suffered a fractured skull and other injuries. He was admitted to hospital, and his condition to-day is serious. It is understood that the driver and a male companion reported the accident to the police.—Press association.
