ST. CLAIR CARNIVAL

On Wednesday evening at 7.30 the mayor will officially hand over the St. Clair esplanade and the beach to “ King Carnival,” who will then rule until the end of the week. The public now looks forward to this annual event, especially the opening ceremony, with the traditional visit of the “ White Island ” party. One of the attractions will be the flood lighting of the breakers, while numerous other features for the entertainment of the public have been arranged by the St. Clair Improvement Society. Half-hour entertainments will be staged in a tent this year, and two professional artists have been engaged to cater for the public’s taste in this department. What with aeroplanes. jugglers, ventriloquists, ft shipwrecks,” bands, games, lights, and laughter, it is confidently expected that the carnival will bo an unqualified success and will enable the society to pursue still further its policy of improving the amenities of this seaside resort.
