PLANNED ACCIDENT ALLEGED

ACCUSED ACQUITTED [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, February 11. In the Supreme Court to-day Thomas John Lucinsky and Herbert Miiler Duncan were charged \vith conspiring to defraud the National Insurance Company of £62d and also with attempting to obtain money by false pretences. The Crown alleged that the accused deliberately planned an accident by which Lucinsky, who owned a motor ear, should run into Duncan, who was to make a claim on the insurance company for any injuries received. Evidence was given by Molly Erica Findlay, a domestic servant, that Lucinsky told her that the accident was only a put up ” affair to get money from the insurance company. Witness said she told them not to he too sure of getting the money, because the police were inquiring into the matter. Counsel for the accused contended that, there was no evidence before the jury which would entitle it to convict, and after a retirement of two hours a verdict of not guilty was returned.
