FAIR TO FINE The following weather forecast was issued at upon by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, covering the southern "district—Dunedin, Port Chalmers,Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton, Orepuki, Bluff, Halfmoon Bay:— While an anti-cyclone of slight intensity has moved on to the central and southern portions of the Dominion, a deep cyclone is moving from tha north towards the northern extremity. Forecast; —Light to moderate easterly winds prevailing; weather mainly fair to fine and mild, but a few showers probable in the south; seas slight to moderate. CALM, BUT CLOUDY, While bright sunshine warmed Dunedin early to-day, dense, fluffy clouds covered the sky about- mid-morning. About noon they fended to disperse; signalling improved conditions. A light easterly breeze persisted, and the barometer was steady at 29.9 in, two points in advance of yesterday’s midday reading. At 9 o’clock the temperature was 57deg, and at noon 61deg, compared with a maximum of 67deg for 24 hours yesterday, when the minimum was 47deg. Light rain fell yesterday, arid also in the evening, the recording of ,03in being the first since Wednesday.
