KNIFE SLASH

ALLEGED PERPETRATOR ARRESTED [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, January 11. A long vigil by detectives was rewarded last evening by the arrest of the man allegedly connected with the knife or razor assault on Lambton Quay yesterday. James Logie alias Kelly, aged 33, a labourer, was charged to-day with wounding Charles Crooke with intent to do grievous bodily harm. The police asked for a remand, and accused asked for bail. Opposing bail, Detective-sergeant Bevel 1 said his reason was that there was trouble between the two men, and he thought that in his own interests Kelly shquli be confined meantime. In addition, the assaults was rather serious. It was done with a knife, and there was just a possibility that it might be repeated if they met again. Bail was refused.
